Q- Are dogs allowed on the beach?

A-No, dogs are not allowed on Sylvan Beach

Q-Are you allowed to barbecue on the beach? Or is there a place to do so?

A-No, you are not allowed to grill on the beach but you may use the park’s pre setup grills. These are just across from the amusement park.

Q-Is there a fee for parking? Where can you park?

A-There are parking meters in public parking. During some events there is free parking. Such as Bikes on the Beach and other events.

Q-What are the hours the beach open to the public?

A- You can access the beach at any time. On duty life guard hours are 11-a.m. to 7-p.m. 7 days a week, weather permitting.

Q- Is there a lifeguard on duty?

A-In the specified swimming areas.

Q-Are there public restrooms?

A-Yes, there is a bathhouse at the lake front park which has restrooms.

Q-Is alcohol allowed on the beach?

A-Open containers are not allowed in public in the Village of Sylvan Beach

Q-Are you allowed to beach your boat on Sylvan Beach?

A- You are not allowed to bring your boat onto the beach but there are public docking areas in the mouth of the canal. Also for a list of marinas click here.

Q-Can you hold wedding ceremonies on the beach or in the park?

A-You may hold weddings on Sylvan Beach. It is recommended to contact the village board for large ceremonies. For more information visit here.

Q-Are fireworks allowed on the beach?

A-No, abiding by New York State policy all consumer fireworks are banned in New York.

Q-Can you fish on the beach?

A- While fishing off of the lake front park is recommended you may fish on the beach. Sylvan Beach has a large sandbar area so fishing directly off the beach would not be ideal.

Q- Are there rules for metal detecting?

A-Metal detecting is allowed, and there are no current regulations.

Q- Can you vend on the Sylvan Beach?

A-With village approval you can become a vendor allowed on the public beach.
